"Does anyone here actually know who I f**king am, sometimes I don't even know myself." (Josh T Pearson). For those of you like me who are not big readers, here is the abridged version. I played in a bunch of bands since the age of 14. Quit playing in bands in 2001 and took up writing songs with an acoustic guitar in a folk/alt-country style. I hold down a day job, I have a wife and a baby boy, I have made a couple of records and play a few shows around the UK every year.
Douglas E Powell and his band Central Casting bring their alt-folk-country acoustic sound and insightful lyrics to the Landmark Pavilion this month. Douglas, who lives in Knowle, plays music that gives an occasional nod to alt-country – think jangly guitars, mouth organ with the odd bursts of tambourine – yet also draws upon English folk influences and the acoustic singer songwriter tradition. Expect an uplifting vibe from a local musician with a lyrical knack with words. North Devon Journal, 3rd November, 2011
